MPR: Image Bank

Click here to log in to the New Image Bank (ImageRelay)

Photos in the current Image Bank on the Orange Peel will be moved to ImageRelay, an external image bank that allows us to organize content in folders like OneDrive, and will be searchable like Getty. You will be able to access ImageRelay with your Single Sign On (SSO) account and password.

Everyone with an ocls.info email account will be able to log in and access the photos on ImageRelay.

Just sign in with your SSO! Do NOT make a new account.

Watch a video here on a quick overview of the site

How do I find what I am looking for?

The new image bank is organized into different folders, similar to OneDrive. It is also searchable by folder name, tag, location and any other information within the metadata that has been added. It is similar to searching for an image on Getty.

The photos are organized into the main categories:

  • Branding and Graphics: This will contain logos, email signatures, zoom backgrounds and "stock" library card photos; things that we will use to convey brand standards.
  • Programs and Events: This is where a majority of your photos will come from. The folders will be named to match the name of the program that is found in Communico. If they are general photos to use for any program, they will be under general promotion. If there are multiple folders within a folder, the main folder will be in ALL CAPS.
  • Stock Photos: These are photos that look similar to what you'd find on Getty that can be used to promote any kind of program/event. More photos to come in this area to create more general photos that can be used for a variety of programs. In here you'll find photos of snow, apples and candy for example - they won't necessarily be program specific.
  • Services: Photos in here are representing things we offer at the library that don't necessarily fall into a program or event.
  • Locations: These are just interior and exterior photos of the branches and some of Downtown Orlando

You are welcome to browse through each folder, or you can use the search bar and the refine tab to find specific images. Most folders have been named to the name of the program. Other photos that are more general can be used for any program that it is related to. The only exceptions are photos that have restrictions on them. These restricitions will pop up before you download the image, if there are any.

How do I find Summer Reading Program / Summer at Your Library Photos?

Going forward, all photos from Summer Reading Program/SRP 2017 - 2022 and Summer at Your Library 2023+ have been tagged Summer at Your Library and are in the corresponding folder and year. The folders contain both kid and adult programs with the more generic programs such as a sewing class or BizKids have been put in their appropriate folders outside of the Summer at Your Library main folder. The photos in the Summer at Your Library folder mostly contain outside presenters and special themed programs to that year.

How are the tags different from the old Image Bank?

When searching tags there are AI generated tags, and tags that have been assigned manually. When searching, you are searching through all the tags, descriptions and folder names.

How do I find a specific staff member's photos?

To find a specific staff member, the names are saved by names from the Orange Peel. Example: Amanda Murphy

What do I do if nothing shows up when searching?

If you get an error message that yields no results while searching, make sure everything is spelled correctly. The search bar does not auto correct or fill in like Google does when you search. Your search needs to match at least a tag, file name, folder or a word in the metadata. If you've double checked everything and still aren't finding what you are looking for - you can put in a photo request to have new photos taken for your program/event!

Photo and Graphic Guidelines

For image use in Marketing Materials:

Your FIRST resource for image needs should always be Image Relay.

If you cannot find what you need in ImageRelay, then you can look for an appropriate image in the Canva image database.

You do not have to be specific on what image you use if it matches the program. For example: if you have a toddler program called “Little Bugs or Storytime Crafts” you may use any image of a toddler to represent the program.

If you can not find an image, such as a photo of the Moon or a Dinosaur you may use Canva’s image database.

Do NOT use images from Google Photo, Pixabay or other free websites or stock photo sources.

If you have an image that you have taken, please share it with MPR for review before using it in marketing materials.

Can I use Canva’s design elements/graphics?

You may use Canva’s design elements and graphics but they need to follow our brand standards and follow Canva’s rules. Canva offers a library of amazing content to use in your designs, including photos, icons, illustrations, video, audio, fonts and templates. By using one (or more) of these in a design, you’re bound by specific agreements. Watch here for Canva's video on the topic and Here for the site explaining the license.

  • Do not use a Canva photo of someone's face to endorse a product or service. Example: using a stock photo of someone's face to say "I love the Library!"
  • Do not reproduce Canva's images or graphics as your own or without any modications to the original photo.

Can I use Canva’s images?

You may use Canva’s images only if you cannot find the image in the new Image Bank first. Click here to watch a video and click here to view a pdf on how to connect your ImageRelay account with Canva. The same rules apply as they did for Getty when selecting an image on Canva.

Do not use up close photos of people's faces from the Canva library, and instead use their image library for photos such as animals, nature, planets, etc.

Do we still need to use Getty to download graphics or photos?

Canva’s database and the new Image Bank will eventually replace Getty. If you would like to search for Getty Images within Canva you can do so here: https://www.canva.com/p/gettyimages/

How do I add an image from the new Image Bank to my design?

You will need to go to your ImageRelay account, select your image, download it to your computer and upload it in the uploads tab of Canva. Only you will be able to see your uploads within Canva, but you will have access to it each time you go to design, unless you delete it.

Can I edit images?

You may not drastically change an image from the new Image Bank. You can crop in an image to fit the template or remove the background of a subject. This will show you how to use the background remover tool in Canva.
